Mudskipper Tails do the following:
1. Cantilever support through the width of a vault wall so as to reduce the cantilevered length of the plumbing.
2. Protect plumbing from crushing by the soil retainers, which retain soil from the vertically slotted opening, as soil swelling and shrinking occurs.
3. Act as a counterweight to stabilize plumbing when plumbing trenches are open and/or flexible expansion joints are being inspected and/or replaced.
